Like father like daughter

There’s an adage says “like father like son” but in my case it should be “like father like daughter” :p

Yesterday was the 15th May 2011, one of the lovely days of my life. Why? Coz it was my dad’s birthday. I used to be the first one who greeted him happy birthday every year and for being the first, i always got a present from him (money) lol...

However, thing was different yesterday. i did not greet him first. Maybe one of the reason is that i’m too embarrassed if he finally gives me money for being the first. Hahaha, i’m already 22 going to 23, it would be embarrassing coz what should be is that i give him a present. Actually the main reason is that it was on Sunday and as usual i was almost late to church that’s why i did not greet him as my dad always wakes up earlier.  So this year my sister Monna was the first one who greeted him happy birthday.

Forget about who is the first and lets switch to the adage “like father like daughter”. I don't know whether it’s just my assumption but what i feel is that i am truly his daughter (of course i am). It’s not because of our genetic similarities but more about the way we live our lives. I have encountered the most similar thing between us and it’s all about our dreams. We both have big dreams and have big passion to reach the dreams. Yeah, some of my friends say that i’m too optimistic in living my dream. It’s true coz i’m my father’s daughter. My dad is the one who has big dreams and also the most energetic man who’s gonna work hard to reach his dream. There is no exhaustion in his life. No wonder as his daughter i inherit his life spirit.

The other similar thing that people say is “less talk”. I don't think we’re the same at this personality but most people say like that. Sometimes i think that i am more talk active and it makes me quite similar to my mom. Nevertheless many times i also find my self contemplate anything rather than say it loudly. At this point I might agree if they say i’m a typical of my father. I love pouring down my feeling into written words and my father loves keeping it in his heart or maybe he’ll share it with my mom. That’s the way my father lives his life. He’s silent and calm while my mom is talk active, and me----I am the combination of them for those who really know me— hahaha :D

Frankly, those similarities i’ve mentioned are just the other words of my desire to be a typical of him. in fact, i’m too proud to be his daughter.

in the end, i lift up a prayer for him from my grateful heart, taken  from Psalm 128:4-6:
Behold! So shall the man be blessed who fears the LORD.
The LORD shall bless my father out of Zion; and he shall see the good of Jerusalem all the days of his life.
Yea, he shall see the sons of his sons. Peace [be] on Israel. Amen”

  1. this is a really heartwarming post-- :( are you much closer to your father than your mother??

:) "less talk"? Regarding that-- I don't know just yet what type of a person Haniva is.. lol.. are you the loud type of a person?? or are you the laconic type?? :3

Don't feel embarrassed to do what you were used to.. Sometimes parents esp. fathers most of the time tries to keep a memory of us as in a way that's child like... Sometimes they are not comfortable knowing that we already have boyfriends and mature stuff.. :)

I truly hope I was as close as you are with your father... :)

  3. Jen: i'm close to both of them..we have a very peculiar relationship that none understands. we trust and support one another. i love my dad for the way he loves me and trusts me. i love my mom coz she's a good friend to talk with coz she's very talk active though many times i choose to keep it all as a secret of mine.
i think i'm a silent one and yes could be laconic. i dont talk much, only to those who have been so close to me i can talk much.

oh ya..i forgot Amir Khan's name in that movie and mentioned wrong name. lol..but that's a worth seeing movie..very inspiring!!!
