Halloween

The week which was just over was truly full of fun, tiredness, surprise and of course full of stories..
This time I am gonna share some pictures of our simple Halloween party with Miss Jessica Peng, our English teacher from the U.S, some teachers and students.
It was so funny.. they all wore crazy costumes, made themselves look scary (though it made them look so cute, in fact..LOL), and showed their cute pose on camera..
Here are some pictures of them that I grabbed from Miss Ary's facebook:

scary.. :)

Ok.. that's the story.. Actualy I am not really interested in Hallowen coz the background of the celebration refers to the spirits and ghost, however, I need to be objective by looking at the goal of this celebration. as long as it's just for fun, not doing any worship to spirit or ghost, I can still enjoy as I did last week with the teachers and students.

By the way, I was a little bit curious about why they named the celebration "Halloween' then I visited some sites to find the information.

Actually the original name was Sahmain, the celebration of the switching of the weather--from Summer to Autumn and Winter done by ancient Galia. Since the background referred to the ghost and spirit, the church finally adapted this celebration by turning it into the celebration of the saints which is called "All Hallows Evening". It was aimed to make the Galia people stopped celebrating Sahmain which was not according to the church teaching. However Galia people didn't stop celebrating though the church had tried to make it more church-ish. So, the term 'Halloween' was derived from 'All Hallows Evening'.

I was surprised knowing that the church was behind the history of Halloween. It is a little bit weird for me as I personally dont agree the celebration of the spirits of dead people. It is not biblical at all. The bible never teaches us to pray for any spirit of dead people including those who died in Christ. It clearly teaches us to lift up our prayer to God for anything-our needs, struggle, burden, people who suffer-but NOT for the spirit of any saints. Thus I find the history so funny..
Thank God, there have been some transformations since Martin Luther protested the old church so we're today living in a reformed church.
I hope that one day people would realize that there's no connection between the dead people with the living men. None one knows where they are now-heaven or hell--but we all will know soon when we're going back home.

Blessings,
Haniva
