The Lesson from Cedar Tree

............and tonight, once again, I'm curious about a tree. >.<
on the first week of June I posted on my blog about a tree called "Elah" and this time God still teaches me from a tree called "cedar".
cedar tree

I went to a prayer fellowship this afternoon and the preacher shared from Psalm 104, it's about the might of God in His creation. I was totally engrossed when I read verse 16:
104:16 The trees of the LORD [are] full, the cedars of Lebanon which He has planted;
the cedars of Lebanon have caught my attention. yesterday i was thinking about the verse related to cedar so i tried to find in my bible but i couldn't find.Thank God i've found it tonight..

well, I remember Cedar for two verses in psalm. the first one has been mentioned above and the other one in
Psalm 92:12:
The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree; he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
I know there are still many verses related to this tree on the bible but these two verses i love the most. the reason is so simple.. coz God seems to analogize the righteous man as cedar. why should be like a cedar? what is special with this tree? here are the points i've learnt dealing with this tree from "Bahana" :

  • the wood of this tree is very tough that's why Salomon (David's son) used this tree to build up the House of the Lord and his palace. toughness talks about foundation, and foundation is all about "FAITH". as Christian we should stand steadfastly in trusting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. He is the foundation as Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 3:11 "For any other foundation can no one lay than the one] being laid, who is Jesus Christ." if you want to build a house but doesn't have a strong foundation, i'm sure when the storm comes your house will be broken easily. having Jesus as the foundation means trusting Him for all the things happen in our life, regardless of all the difficulties or troubles, pains or torment, we can still shout to God "Whom have I in Heaven? And besides You I desire none on earth. My flesh and my heart fail; [but] God [is] the strength of my heart, and my part forever." (psalm 73:25-26).. it's all about the toughness of cedar.

  • the good smell of its sap.. yes, cedar tree has sap that smells very good. Paul ever reminded the church to be the smell of Christ. it means that we have to bring good impact. be the blessing for others. don't only be a Christian in our church, but spread the smell of Christ in every where we go.. make sure that in all that we do we glorify Him.

These two things are the lesson from the cedar in Lebanon... the bible says in the previous verse that "the cedars of Lebanon which He has planted". we are actually the cedar God has planted.. do you think God will ignore us?! of course no..never--
i don't know what kind of circumstances you've been struggling at the moment.. perhaps it's so hard till you feel like you're in the edge of the valley. tonight, as God has reminded me, I also remind you that God will never ignore the tree He has planted. you're the cedar, He's watching over your growth, he pays attention at every inch of your growth coz He always cares for details. Be the tough one coz you've been growing up in the strongest foundation and make sure that "your sap" spreads the good smell of Christ.

stay firmly in Jesus...
God bless you! :)
