A Note on 16th August 2011
wise man says that life is the best lesson for those who learn it day by day... (who has this statement?! i dont know....lol).
you face so many things everyday, the wanted and unwanted things happen, days flow like a river flows, it blows and you still question where it goes...
today, the 16th August 2011, a day before my beloved nation's Independence Day i find some great lessons about what the days of Indonesia might possibly become and what i am supposed to do as an Indonesian girl who desires for a healing for my Indonesia...
the first one goes as the following..........
This morning i had to accompany my student to meet the mayor of Kupang in his office. my student is one of the lucky students who got the chance to be the teens ambassador that will visit ASEAN nations; Singapore, Thailand and Philippine. so we went there. there is also another school (only two schools in Kupang attend this program) who sends their student, and the school is my former secondary school--Giovanni Catholic Senior High School. when i arrived i was surprised coz the 'givans' (famous calling for Giovanni) student was accompanied by my former English teacher, the one that has inspired me to be a teacher.. wow... i cant believe it. two generations were standing with their students.. i was very glad and also thankful for i could meet my teacher again in this very important meeting. i stood, proud of him as i know that i could be like this today, standing beside my student because God had used him to educate and teach me...
here i learn something about life, that the best achievement of a teacher is when s/he can see his or her students stand before him/her as what they dream of. the bliss of life is that moment.....
at this part, i am proud of being an Indonesian, though so many bad things happen; dirty politics, corruption, disaster, etc. i ever questioned what this country might be some years later with these diseases... however, the good things still remain, and great teachers are the reason i believe that "Indonesia still have a hope for the future".
As the Indonesian, i may say a protest to this nation but still i have the responsibility to make a reformation. i cant only see. the field i have to reform is education. producing great leaders who are gonna lead this nation with pure motive and true mission 20 years later. the hope of Indonesia is in my hand now...
the second one which makes me worried about this nation goes like this...
after the meeting with the mayor, my student and i went to sport court coz there was 'footsal' competition for celebrating 17 August. while we were on the way by 'bemo' (the name of Kupang's public transport), suddenly there was a crazy rider floated before our public transport. the problem here is that the road is one-line road so it is impossible for other transportation float from other side.. the driver was surprised so he seemed to curse the rider (i didnt hear very clearly so i didnt know very sure). the rider, unfortunately heard the curse. he rode his bike speedily after our car and stopped the driver and directly gave a punch to the driver without asking for a confirmation. and the most embarrassing thing that has added the negative thing to my list of reasons why i hate the police in Kupang was the fact that the THE RIDER IS A POLICEMAN. you know...he broke the traffic rule but looked for other's guilt as a running away topic in order to make him blameless. VERY VERY EMBARRASSING!!!!
as the servant of public he has to protect 'us' but what he has done is definitely contrast to his duty...
for a while i try to remind myself that he is just one bad example and [hopefully] there are still many who are loyal to their duty.. YET, what might happen to this nation IF the number of the worst is more than the best?
we have to be ready for seeing such a great disaster to this nation....
and again.... before 17 August, the 66th year of Indonesia, i contemplate it all and get a concussion that my duty as a teacher is very crucial and might be kinda hard...
why??
the answer ----->>>> i am the one who's gonna produce 'that policemen'.. :'(
so this writing is just a reflection for me as a teacher before Independence day..
i probably have these two options;
1. letting all my hatred to the policeman get increased without finding a solution .....OR
2. reducing it by preparing great policeman by now in my classroom.. :)
yes, the second one is the best!!! i'm gonna try....
anyway...though it's too early i wanna shout loudly;
"Happy Independence Day to all Indonesians!!! Indonesia's dream is in your hand... think about it seriously!"
Peace Be Upon Indonesia... May The Healing from The Most High be upon Indonesia... Amen!
